About CharityAdventure
One thing we're often asked is simply why we do this for free. The answer is
fairly straightforward!
All of our volunteers love cycling, whether it's long-distances on road bikes,
single-track mountain biking or just a daily commute. They believe in our ethos
that organisations raising money for charity should do so without taking a
cut of the money that is raised. After all, who wants to donate money to a
charity knowing that half of it won't ever get to the people that need it most? 100% of the money that is raised by
our riders goes to charity. It's that simple.
CharityAdventure was formed back in 2005 when we realised that our weekend bike
rides would be more fun if we invited other people along with us. It was a way
of making new friends, encouraging people onto their bikes and raising money at
the same time.
It never ceases to amaze us watching relative cycling novices
taking part in events with complete strangers suddenly growing in confidence at
their own ability whilst forming bonds with their fellow riders that can only
come with the physical and mental challenges that they're faced with.
It's funny to hear on the first day of an event that "I'll never make it to the lunch stop" and then
listening the the same person a couple of days later saying "Oh, it's only 15 miles to the finish, that's nothing!".
We're going on these rides anyway - why not make new friends, get fit, make a massive amount
of cash for charity and help your fellow riders change their own lives in the process?
